Kissing Giraffes – Texturized

Kissing Giraffes - Artsy

Oh yeah, I took a picture of french kissing giraffes. Then I played in photoshop to make a kick ass image. I might even get this printed and framed. I like it THAT much.

If you’re wondering why I did this in the first place, head on over to Pink Ink Studios

Sherbet Business Collection

Here’s a blog post I wrote for Pink Ink Studios:

I am probably a little biased (you know, just a little bit), but I am absolutely LOVING my new Sherbet Business Collection. It’s fun, bright and funky and totally customizable.

Currently, there are only a few products in the store for this collection, but there are many more items to come. If you are looking for a specific product for this line, just let me know – I might be able to add it to the store!

First, there’s the Sherbet Price List. It’s a single, layered .psd file and is fully customizable except for the background pattern. Fonts, font colors, boxes and header background color can all be changed.

The Sherbet Collection also includes a 5×7 promo postcard and a blog header. Like the price list, these products are completely customizable, except for the patterned backgrounds.

In case you are wondering, yes those fun, funky photos are me, taken by the wonderfully talented Holly McCaig! Thanks Holly!

My Travel Nightmare

Last Friday, I embarked on quite the travel nightmare. The plan was for me to take the 6:15am Amtrak from Milwaukee to Chicago’s Union Station, then catch a 9am Megabus to St. Louis to visit one of my bestest friends, Holly McCaig. My itinerary called for me to arrive in St. Louis at 2:30 pm or so. I would have had about an hour to grab breakfast in Chicago.

As is pretty much everything in my life, enter Murphy’s Law.

I got to the train station before 6, printed my ticket at the kiosk and got in line to board the train. Tick tock, tick tock.  At approximately 6:37 am (see Twitter feed below), we were told there were mechanical problems with the train that could make it hard to stop. Awesome! I complained about missing my connection in Chicago and was told they could refund my train ticket and that I should check with Greyhound.

I didn’t really have another choice, as they didn’t know when the train would leave and there was no way I could catch my connection, so I had to take Greyhound all the way to St. Louis. Note: I will NEVER do this again.

The best way for you to learn about my trip is probably to just read through my tweets from Friday (scroll down to the bottom and work your way up. The tweets are in reverse-chronological order).

I’ll post more about the trip later this week. Enjoy.

  • Should be actually leaving decatur soon. At least I got some food. I hadn’t eaten since before 6am
  • Don’t know what part of the big champaign sign I didn’t understand. Shit this bus is making me stupid
  • Leaving decatur and I’m gonna punch the kid who just got on and is sitting behind me
  • THX for all the replies everyone. Sorry I can’t respond to them all right now. But I do appreciate it
  • The kids on this bus are going to get their asses kicked if they don’t shut up
  • Ok new bus? Even sketchier passengers. And I didn’t have a chance to pee. I do not want to use the toilet on board. Hope I can hold it
  • Apparently when they put chains on the bus has to reduce speed. If I don’t make my bus to St Louis I will cry
  • Shiznit. Amtrak all messed up so ill miss bus in Chicago. Now I have to take greyhound all the way. Sketchy folks on board. Awesome
  • Apparently the problem is with air pressure or something that would make it hard for the train to stop. Awesome
  • Mechanical problems with the train there will be a slight delay. I better get to Chicago in time to catch my bus!

New Items at Pink Ink Studios

Between craft fairs and dealing with life, I have been trying to get new items up at Pink Ink Studios. Here are a few of my creations:

ak-pis-asuka5-prev

I guess some people have a hard time figuring out layouts for photo books for clients…. Enter Amy’s Asuka templates! I love creating templates and hope you will like using them.

ak-pis-gumdrop-sleighbells-prev

Here’s a fun holiday card, adorned with sleighbells and this fabulous floral pattern.

Finally, my friend Carrie mentioned the other day that she had a client who wanted a 20×20 storyboard with a big photo in the middle surrounded by little ones. Viola!  Ask and ye shall receive… well, sometimes.

Here’s her final product:

Isn’t it fabulous?!?
